Pequin peppers grow wild here in south Texas and are native to the area. Our families have been enjoying these tasty and hot little peppers for generations. We add them to many dishes- breakfast, lunch and supper.

Pequin peppers make a delicious hot and tasty salsa that can be added to a variety of dishes. When I make Pequin salsa, I make enough to last for about three weeks. But it rarely lasts more than one.

The hot and flavorful Pequin peppers can be picked either green or red and then they can be put in your freezer. Whenever you want to make a salsa or add to a dish, simply get what you need from your freezer. Pequin Peppers will last a long time in the freezer without losing much of their flavor and hardly any of their heat.

The Pequin pepper plant grows wild, but can easily be transplanted closer to the yard. It is a very attractive bush that looks like it has bright red Christmas lights when the fruits are ripe-red.

A Pequin pepper plant will not only make an attractive plant on your yard, but will also provide you with green and red, tasty fruits for enhancing and spicing up your dishes.
