Yesterday I picked a few ripe Pequin Peppers from one of my plants and decided to make a fresh bash of smoking HOT Pequin Salsa!
So I got my blender, a can of Del Monte diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano and of course my Pequin Wild Peppers. I poured the whole contents of the can into the blender and then added about 25 Pequin Peppers to that. A word of caution here, don’t use these many Pequin Peppers into this equation at first. They are HOT! So go easy at first… maybe 4 or 5 peppers and then blend for about 45 seconds or so. Then taste and if you’d like it a little hotter then what you already have, then add a few more and so on, until you get the right hotness level for you.
After having blended the Del Monte diced tomatoes and Pequin Peppers, I then poured the Pequin Salsa into a foam cup and then poured the freshly made salsa into a jar. I use a foam cup to do this because I can squeeze the cup some and it will make it easier to pour into the mouth of the jar with no spillage. If I were to pour from the blender straight to the jar, it would make it a little more difficult.
Once it has been poured into the jar, it is done! That’s all there is to this quick Pequin Salsa recipe. And above is a picture of the finished product.
You can now use this hot and tasty salsa immediately in any dish you’d like. Refrigerate the Pequin Salsa until ready to use again. Any small amount that didn’t fit into the jar, will not go to waste in my house. In my case, I did have a bit left and I immediately threw some chicken nuggets into the microwave oven and then used the leftover salsa on them. DELICIOUS!
So there you have it! A very quick way to make your very own Hot & Tasty Pequin Pepper Salsa. It is very, very good!
